Bodegas y Viñedos Lleiroso

01/08/2016 - 14:02

Bodegas Lleiroso is a modest but innovative winery in the Ribera del Duero, the result of the passion of Don Alberto Cobo for the world of wine. It is located in Valbuena de Duero, in the so-called =golden mile of the Ribera del Duero, near the river that gives name to this prestigious Denomination of Origin.

Born in Jaén, its founder and current manager, Alberto Cobo, was a pharmacist in Valladolid when in 1999, risking his own business, he decided to dedicate himself to what he really loved: the production of great wines in an area as representative as today the Ribera del Duero.

Despite its youth, the tour of this particular winery is solid and firm, producing year after year some wines highly valued by connoisseurs of the sector, who are getting excellent scores and prizes in competitions both nationally and internationally.

Tinto Figuero

15/07/2016 - 13:20

José María García was born in La Horra in 1936, in a family of winemakers. Married in 1961 to Milagros Figuero, also from La Horra and a family of winemakers. They have three children: Carlos, Henar and Antonio, married to Ester, J. Felipe and Pilar. The whole family is involved in the vineyards and in the cellar.

From an early age, at age 12, José María was already planting vines and carefully taking care of the vineyard as his grandparents taught him, from whom he inherited good work and patience.

The grapes collected were sold since 1968 to the best wineries in the region, mythical wineries, and at the end of the last century the creation of the winery began to take shape to make their own wines. "We want our winery and the wines that come out of it to be a reflection of the experience of generations, of work and tenacity," said José María García.

Bodega y Viñedos Martín Berdugo

30/06/2016 - 13:14

When it comes to making excellent wines, old is gold. Although the story of Martín Berdugo goes back centuries, the single-vineyard estate that surrounds our modern winery was planted by its owner, Josefina, in the 1980s with the support of her husband Enrique and their children Antonio, Bruno and Pepa.

The soul of our wines is found within our mature vineyard in Ribera del Duero. Our south-facing 87-hectare vineyard is situated at 800 meters above sea level. It offers the beauty and complexity of the alluvial soils found in the Duero River valley: stones, gravel, sand, silt and light clay.

We offer several ranges of wines that convey the essence of our terroir, history, family and natural environment. We only make wine with grapes from our own vineyard, thus achieving an exhaustive and meticulous monitoring of the vineyard, which is reflected in its high quality.

La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Winery is located in the town of Gumiel de Izán in the province of Burgos, declared a Historic-Artistic Site. Just 70 kilometers from Burgos and 10 kilometers from Aranda de Duero.

It was founded in 1963 by 300 members, all of them winegrowers of Gumiel de Izán, one of the best considered terms within the production area of the Ribera. After several renovations and extensions it now has 2,000 m2 of processing area.

Viña Sastre

09/05/2016 - 14:09

A Château in Ribera del Duero.

Their love for the land and for vineyards prompted the Sastre family to plunge themselves into this restless world of wine five decades ago. Severiano Sastre pioneered this grand project and, in the 1950s, he produced his first wines in the underground cellars in La Horra. He gradually used his profits to purchase more land and plant more vines in the area.

In 1957, he joined forces with a group of winemaking entrepreneurs and together they set up the Virgen de la Asunción cooperative. His son, Rafael, continued his artisanal trade and saw his childhood dream come true in 1992 when he opened his own winery in the heart of the Ribera del Duero wine country, alongside his sons Pedro and Jesús Mª.
