Embarcadero de San Esteban

On the banks of the Duero River, there is a jetty that gives access to the river, to carry out activities such as canoeing, or fishing. The river includes a bathing area, leaving the jetty for other activities. If you like to observe the waters of the river, or simply contemplate nature, the jetty is a good place to sit and relax, with the help of the songs of the birds, or the jumping of the fish.

Padilla de Duero lagoons

Strolling along the old path of Padilla in search of the harmony that natural environments give off, about 3 km from the urban center of Peñafiel we find the so-called Pardilla lagoons, recently rehabilitated to preserve their natural habitat.

These are two wetland areas located at the foot of large pine forests between Padilla de Duero and the course of our river on its left bank. This place is enabled for different activities, such as fishing, bird watching or birding (although it does not have a booth for observation), hiking or bike rides and it is 100% cyclable all the way.

It has a parking area for bikes and can also be accessed by car despite the fact that it is an unpaved road.

Olivares pier

The jetty that is located in Olivares de Duero, has a rest area on the GR14, where gallery forests stand out, of poplars, poplars, ash trees, holm oaks, walnut trees, pines ... among others. As for the fauna, a great variety of fish predominate, such as barbels, bogas, pike, perch and aquatic animals such as ducks, herons, otters and water rats.

The pier allows activities such as fishing, canoeing, and has a bathing area.

Pier in Vadocondes

The waters of the Duero also run through Vadocondes (Burgos), where we will find a jetty, which gives access to all athletes who wish to access the river, to practice canoeing, or fishing.

Close to the pier we can enjoy in a recreational area with a faboulous picnic area, as well as the track of the Duero's Path that runs by the river.

Los Arañales Wetland

The origin of the Los Arañales wetland in the municipality of Berlangas de Roa (Burgos) is found in the old aggregate extractions: after having lowered the ground level, it has caused the flooding of these gravel pits, the appearance of permanent wetlands and, with this, the habitability of a varied fauna and flora.

The community of birds that host this wetland tend to be mostly migratory and other species such as the bee-eater and the sapper plane, using this area of ​​reeds and cattails as a resting place.

There is a booth as an observatory from which you can watch the birds - birding.

Access is easy through the roads that occupy the area between the left bank of the Duero River and the Guma channel, and can even be reached by car on an unpaved road.

Bocarros Beach

Pedraja de San Esteban, has a space where calm and tranquility are part of nature, we speak of "Bocarros", an area in which formerly when the festivities ended, pitanzas were celebrated with friends, and with it the farewell of the summer.

In good weather, the Predadaños use it as a private pool for bathing, and it is a great area for fishing, as crabs and barbels abound.

Carrascal wetlands

The origin of the Carrascal wetlands in the municipality of Villalba de Duero (Burgos) is found in the old aggregate extractions: after having lowered the level of the land, it has caused the flooding of these gravel pits, the appearance of permanent wetlands and, with it, the habitability of a varied fauna and flora.

The reeds that grow on the shores of these wetlands are magnificent observatories for birds such as coots, ducks, sapper planes, imperial herons or the shy little bittern.

There are several wetlands that occupy this area, one of them being larger in size than the rest. Halfway between one and the other, you can stop and enjoy the scenery in the Fuente del Orbe recreational area.

Access is easy through the roads that occupy the area between Villaba de Duero and the right bank of the Duero River, 100% cyclable and can even be reached by car on an unpaved road.

El Vallejo Dam

The Tórtoles de Esgueva reservoir, is surrounded by various vine and cereal crops, has a long journey through the Páramo Cerrato and the Ribera del Río Esgueva, its Mediterranean environment makes a great variety of flora and fauna prevail.

Among the first of them, we can find holm oaks, and junipers whose vegetation is shrubby and herbaceous, within which is located the thyme sauce, marjoram, sage, dark foxglove, and a long etcetera. Focusing on the aquatic flora, microphytes develop, among which the reed, the jays, reeds stand out, and on its banks the large willows and poplars are the dominant species.

The Barriles Pier

Apart from river beaches, in the Ribera del Duero, we find other areas of interest and tranquility such as the piers.

In Aranda de Duero, there is the so-called El Barriles Park, where nature abounds in abundance, they have a part of the river adapted for aquatic birds such as ducks, peacocks, geese ... among others. There is also a green area, to walk around, or just sit and watch the Duero River. But here we will focus on the jetty, which facilitates access to canoeists, fishing enthusiasts or triathlon and swimming athletes. Although the bathroom in this area is not very suitable.

La Pesquera Beach

Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid) also has a small bathing area, at the foot of its beautiful Renaissance bridge, in the so-called "fishing", an area where the Duero retains its great flow and on whose left side water is diverted to the Canal of the Duero. It is easily accessible (on foot) through a pedestrian bridge.

Its shallow waters allow you to swim on the shores, and if you like fishing, it is a good place to cast your rod.
