The archaeological zone located in Padilla de Duero and Pesquera de Duero constitutes a large archaeological complex, on the left margin of the middle course of the Duero. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in the community of Castilla y León.
Its great extension and extensive occupation, at least from the beginning of the II Iron Age, until the high Middle Ages in an uninterrupted manner, make it a nucleus of great interest for archaeological research. Suffice it to point out the uniqueness and unique character of the Celtiberian and Roman necropolis, respectively, both of incineration and located in the payment of The Wheels. Nor can the great documentary wealth that the stratigraphic sequence of the various human occupations recorded in the next town of Las Quintanas be ignored. Particular interest are the levels of the Celtiberian period, which, together with the nearby Carralaceña pottery, will make a significant contribution to the establishment of chronological bases for the systematization of Celtiberian productions, especially ceramics.
The existence of public buildings and various occupation areas of Roman times, as well as the Visigothic necropolis, opens the investigation to other areas of historical knowledge.
