Unique Tree Route
The thematic route The Most Singular Trees offers a selection of centenary, or even millenary, peculiar tree species that you can find throughout the length and breadth of the territory of our Ribera del Duero Wine Route.
Almost thirty specimens that, due to their longevity, size or values associated with traditions, we have highlighted for the visitor's enjoyment.
Two of these unique trees are also categorised as notable with specific protection and are included in the catalogue of Castilla y León.
In this tour of The Most Singular Trees of the Ribera del Duero, you will discover:
- Six specimens of holm oak, such as the thousand-year-old holm oak with an average crown diameter of 25.6 metres.
- Four specimens of juniper, such as a female sessile juniper of exceptional size.
- Three specimens of pine, such as the fat pine with a crown diameter of 26 metres and a height of 22 metres.
- A three-hundred-year-old olive tree from old olive plantations.
- And also: two poplars, two willows, two mulberry trees, a rowan, an ash, a hawthorn, a plane tree, an oak, a juniper and a poplar.
Witnesses to the passage of time, stories and legends, these riverside trees are also an example of the natural diversity of our region.
Remember that you are visiting a natural space. Respect their environment and leave it the same or better than you found it. It is our duty to preserve these trees and the nature that surrounds them; future generations also have the right to enjoy them. If you detect damage to the tree that could endanger its conservation, report it to the authorities.
