It was built by Don Juan Antonio Serrano Mañero, one of the most interesting characters of Sotillo de la Ribera. Very soon he oriented his life towards the ecclesiastical career, in which he obtained important positions: canon, penitentiary, Rector of the University of Santiago.Closely linked to the circles of power, he carries out an important artistic program in Sotillo and introduced neoclassicism in this municipality: he paid for the work of the General Altarpiece of the Church, promoted the patronage of the chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary and built a new manor house for the family. He also financed the reconstruction of the Hermitage of the Virgin of the Prados, with a neoclassical facade.
Today, this neoclassical building, recently restored, is of Cultural Interest and guards inside a museum that encompasses exceptional exhibitions of sculpture, ceramics, painting, reproductions of the work of the famous avant-garde painter Fermín Aguayo and originals of Castilian landscape of Santiago Izquierdo, as well as Spanish coins and banknotes from Carlos III or coins and banknotes from Europe and America.
