Mélida, has an archaeological site, which includes Las Bocas, caves where over the years marks of door hinges or chambers carved in the rocks have been observed.
They are part of the 10th century, and the cavities that communicate are diverse, having up to 12m square surfaces, although their uses were not continuous, the monks settled in them to escape from what was happening outside or also as a hermitage for the Mozarabic rite carried out by the Hispano-Visigoths.
TIPS FOR THE VISITOR
- Have good shoes and walking sticks
- Special care at the entrance of the cave, as it can be dangerous
- Not recommended to go with children
