Peñaranda de Duero
In a land plagued by history and culture such as Castilian is not easy to highlight. However, in Peñaranda de Duero all the necessary elements are combined to be able to affirm that we are facing one of the medieval jewels of Castilla y León.
Emblazoned houses, cobblestone streets, Avellaneda Palace, square with its roll, Ex-Colegiata de Santa Ana, Castillo, are just some samples of a villa that is a symbol of the most beautiful page of our history.
Also remarkable are the Convent of San José (Church), with guided visits arranged in the tourist office (947 55 20 63), the Convent of Carmen, founded in the 16th century, with possible visit only to the exterior, The Monastery of the Madres Franciscanas Concepcionistas, home of the MM. Community Franciscan Conceptionists and the Museum-Smithy of Jose Cerezo (947 55 20 69).
Of special beauty are its walls with the "Gate of the Nuns", its hamlet with adobe or wooden facades and the Plaza Mayor that houses the Rollo.
Peñaranda de Duero celebrates its festivities in honor of Santiago Apóstol (July 25) and Santa Ana (July 26), the patron saint of the collegiate church and therefore the parish celebration. In addition, on September 8, the protagonist is Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, patroness of Peñaranda.
