In the valley of the River Esgueva is this riverside town of the province of Burgos that in the 70s ends up integrating as a hamlet to the municipality of Tórtoles de Esgueva.

In Villovela de Esgueva you can visit the late Romanesque church dedicated to San Miguel Archangel, which fuses two styles (Gothic and Romanesque). It has a beautiful altarpiece of the sixteenth century and a choir of undoubted artistic value.

On the other side of the River Esgueva and near the hermitage of Santa Lucia, during the journey of the "Sendero de la Morera y los Valles", there is a singular mulberry, whose bearing exceeds 9 meters of perimeter, being recorded in the catalog of unique trees of the province Burgos.

Villovela de Esgueva celebrates its festivities in honor of Saint Lucia on the third Sunday of August.
