José María García was born in La Horra in 1936, in a family of winemakers. Married in 1961 to Milagros Figuero, also from La Horra and a family of winemakers. They have three children: Carlos, Henar and Antonio, married to Ester, J. Felipe and Pilar. The whole family is involved in the vineyards and in the cellar.
From an early age, at age 12, José María was already planting vines and carefully taking care of the vineyard as his grandparents taught him, from whom he inherited good work and patience.
The grapes collected were sold since 1968 to the best wineries in the region, mythical wineries, and at the end of the last century the creation of the winery began to take shape to make their own wines. "We want our winery and the wines that come out of it to be a reflection of the experience of generations, of work and tenacity," said José María García.
Since 2001, Viñedos y Bodegas García Figuero is an outstanding reality. It produces wine with grapes from more than eighty hectares, of which one third are old vines with an age of over sixty. Tinto Figuero, Ribera del Duero, is recognized for its quality in Spain and in more than 25 countries where you can taste.
