Traveling 1.5 km from Quintanilla de Arriba for the "Botanical Path of the Douro to the Island" we see the first of the three footbridges built in 2013 following the GR 14 Trail in its Valladolid stage (the second crosses the Duero over Pesquera de Duero and the third draws the Duratón as it passes through Peñafiel). On the other side of the river, the Bodega Dehesa de los Canónigos extends.
The Asturian engineers who designed, manufactured, transported and assembled these three catwalks were inspired by one of the most popular monsters in the mythology of the Principality to give it its name: "It looks like a comic crossing over water".
Crossing this walkway allows the visitor to enjoy nature and beautiful views of the Douro.
You can see more river bridges here.
You can get more info about the vallisoletanos bridges over the Douro in our Wine Route in our blog.
