It is in Valbuena de Duero, looking at the monastery where Brother Diego's Cave is located, great and endless legends are in charge of describing this resource, specifically that of Brother Diego, for which different characters were buried in the 16th century, Among which is the protagonist Juan de Vivar (Brother Diego), whom the monks were in charge of supporting, thus giving him a stay in this cave where he lived in absolute tranquility, and thus helping the local shepherds with his medical studies.
The breadth of the cave allowed the new countrymen of Valbuena to set up tables for their lunches, and to spend a pleasant day in the coolness of the limestone.

Between Pesquera de Duero and Curiel, we approach Las Pinzas, large cavities sculpted by our beloved Duero, and by man for two million years. Mélida, has an archaeological site, which includes Las Bocas, caves where over the years marks of door hinges or chambers carved in the rocks have been observed.
They are part of the 10th century, and the cavities that communicate are diverse, having up to 12m square surfaces, although their uses were not continuous, the monks settled in them to escape from what was happening outside or also as a hermitage for the Mozarabic rite carried out by the Hispano-Visigoths.

Continuing through other fairytale landscapes, modeled by their agricultural, livestock and forestry uses, entering the Mediterranean forest made up of resin pine forests in which resin and stone pine have traditionally been extracted, in which today they are still collecting the pineapples for their appreciated pine nuts, and oak groves and astonishing juniper forests, until reaching the hidden Cueva del Búho in the public utility mountain of La Vid and Guma (Burgos).

Following the path, you can see the Arroyo del Dujo, through which hardly any water flows, but you can see reeds and cattails, which make flocks of birds such as gorriates, vultures, eagles, calandrias, rooks, owls, pigeons, partridges flutter , among others.
Among the flora, there are animals such as rabbits, hares, mice, lizards, which make the landscape exceptional.
The vine and the cereal surround its fields, interspersed with large forests of pine and almond trees. These landscapes give you the opportunity to see the countrymen working the fields, vine harvesting, harvesting… If we climb the small hill of Alto de Carraolmedillo or the Llanos de Cuesta Manvirgo we get splendid views of the crops.

In the same basin of the Duratón river, but outside its channel, between the towns of Aldeayuso and Langayo, is the dam and the Valdemudarra reservoir. It belongs to the Duero hydrographic basin and has an area of 33 hectares, and 5 cubic hectometres of capacity.
It is a water resource that supplies water to the community of irrigators in the nearby lands, with two water uses:
- one from the Duratón river, which derives water between the months of November and March
- another from the Duero River, without temporal limitation, which completes the supply of water that cannot be supplied from the Valdemudarra stream.
Being a water area, you can enjoy watching the birds (birding) that stop here to get water, especially migratory birds.

In the area of La Quiñonera, next to the bird observatory and the dump, there is a wetland that occupies an area of approximately 2,200 m2, ideal for bird watching (birding).
Las Navas de la Dehesa wetlands

These are two small wetlands within the La Dehesa mountain in Fuentelcésped (Burgos): one in the Carremolino area and the other in the Cerro de Valderrey.
You can see goldfinches, lilies, verdigris, brown or turtle doves prowling around. This wetland is integrated into the La Dehesa trail, the only self-guided interpretive path in the region, and fully cyclable.
Means continue to be invested so that this wetland recovers again, since it has suffered several droughts that have left it with hardly any water.
